Q&A: Any giant breed dogs good for hiking companions?

Question by Bug: Any giant breed dogs good for hiking companions?

I have owned akitas and mastiffs all my life but would like to find a good extra large-breed dog to take on ski trips with; hiking a couple of hours up hill and then skiing down. Any ideas?
