United States History: Webster's Timeline History, 1808 - 2007

Webster's bibliographic and event-based timelines are comprehensive in scope, covering virtually all topics, geographic locations and people. They do so from a linguistic point of view, and in the case of this book, the focus is on "United States History," including when used in literature (e.g. all authors that might have United States History in their name). As such, this book represents the largest compilation of timeline events associated with United States History when it is used in proper noun form. Webster's timelines cover bibliographic citations, patented inventions, as well as non-conventional and alternative meanings which capture ambiguities in usage. These furthermore cover all parts of speech (possessive, institutional usage, geographic usage) and contexts, including pop culture, the arts, social sciences (linguistics, history, geography, economics, sociology, political science), business, computer science, literature, law, medicine, psychology, mathematics, chemistry, physics, biology and other physical sciences. This "data dump" results in a comprehensive set of entries for a bibliographic and/or event-based timeline on the proper name United States History, since editorial decisions to include or exclude events is purely a linguistic process. The resulting entries are used under license or with permission, used under "fair use" conditions, used in agreement with the original authors, or are in the public domain.

Answer by lawgirl
There are none. You have to obviously be able to get through your undergraduate math requirements to graduate and get into law school(at least in the US), but there are no math classes in law school. You have to be able to do simple math, but you can always use a calculator.

Edit: We lawyers always joke about how bad in math we are!!

What do you think? Answer below!

Barbarism and Religion 2 Volume Paperback Set: Barbarism and Religion, Vol. 2: Narratives of Civil Government

The second volume of Barbarism and Religion explores the historiography of Enlightenment, and looks at Gibbon's intellectual relationship with writers sucah as Giannone, Voltaire, Hume, Robertson, Ferguson and Adam Smith. Edward Gibbon's intellectual trajectory is both similar but at points crucially distinct from the dominant Latin "Enlightened narrative" these thinkers developed. The interaction of philosophy, erudition and narrative is central to enlightened historiography, and John Pocock again shows how the Decline and Fall is both akin to but distinct from the historiographical context within which Gibbon wrote his great work.

An effort against biggotry, and for Christian catholicism. By Henry Chandler, minister at Bath. The second edition, correted [sic].

The 18th century was a wealth of knowledge, exploration and rapidly growing technology and expanding record-keeping made possible by advances in the printing press. In its determination to preserve the century of revolution, Gale initiated a revolution of its own: digitization of epic proportions to preserve these invaluable works in the largest archive of its kind. Now for the first time these high-quality digital copies of original 18th century manuscripts are available in print, making them highly accessible to libraries, undergraduate students, and independent scholars.
The Age of Enlightenment profoundly enriched religious and philosophical understanding and continues to influence present-day thinking. Works collected here include masterpieces by David Hume, Immanuel Kant, and Jean-Jacques Rousseau, as well as religious sermons and moral debates on the issues of the day, such as the slave trade. The Age of Reason saw conflict between Protestantism and Catholicism transformed into one between faith and logic -- a debate that continues in the twenty-first century.

Scooby-Doo Movie Scrapbook Reviews

Scooby-Doo Movie Scrapbook

The Scooby gang gets real Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. star as Fred and Daphne. Now fans can ³unmask² the behind the scenes action in Scholastic¹s photo and fact-filled celebrity scrapbook. Find out what Scooby-Doo is really like in this tell-all book! "Hop into the Mystery Machine--the adventure is about to begin!" Surely it's hard to match the excitement of a multimillion-dollar, Gen X-targeted movie in a mere kids book tie-in, but this earnest little scrapbook does its best. Billed as a backstage pass to the making of Scooby-Doo, the Movie Scrapbook features dozens of stills, on-the-set Q&As with each actor (Sarah Michelle Gellar, Freddie Prinze Jr., Matthew Lillard, and Linda Cardellini), special sections devoted to Scooby's eerie CGI reanimation and other special effects, and a "Scooby-Doo I.Q. test" (a dozen Scooby trivia questions along with the guesses each actor made, a cute idea executed reasonably well). The production is rough (predictably so for a marketing-inspired tie-in), and the interviews don't stray from what you'd find in a movie press kit, but even grownups might like checking out shots from the movie and behind-the-scenes photos. (Ages 9 to 12) --Paul Hughes

Understanding David Foster Wallace (Understanding Contemporary American Literature)

Understanding David Foster Wallace guides readers through thoughtful examinations of Wallace’s novels The Broom of the System and Infinite Jest and first two short story collections, Girl with Curious Hair and Brief Interviews with Hideous Men. In his readings of these works, Marshall Boswell affirms that Wallace (1962â€"2008), in his fiction, compels our attention for the singular excellence of his work and his groundbreaking effort to chart a fruitful and affirmative new direction for literary fiction.

In addition to providing self-contained readings of each text, Boswell places Wallace within a trajectory of literary innovation that begins with James Joyce and continues through John Barth and Thomas Pynchon. Boswell contends that in charting a new course for literary practice, Wallace did not seek merely to overturn postmodernism or simply to return to modernism. Instead he moved resolutely forward with his fiction hoisting the baggage of modernism and postmodernism heavily, but respectfully, on its back.

Expressionist Utopias: Paradise, Metropolis, Architectural Fantasy (Weimar and Now: German Cultural Criticism)

The notion of utopia exists in every culture, capturing shared dreams and common goals. This book-prepared to accompany the exhibition Expressionist Utopias mounted at the Los Angeles County Museum in 1993-explores how the optimistic themes of utopia and fantasy sustained faith among artists and architects in the power of art to shape a better world during the tumultuous World War I era in Germany. The exhibition's curator, Timothy O. Benson along with David Frisby, Reinhold Heller, Anton Kaes, Wolf Prix, and Iain Boyd White present the diverse manifestations of the utopia metaphor in its progression throughout Expressionism from Arcadian to manmade utopias. This work includes a new chapter on the spectacular installation created for the exhibition by the Viennese architectural firm Coop Himmelblau.
